Cromwell Teen Literacy Group Upcoming Events
CROMWELL - Plan to join us in July and August at the Cromwell Belden Public Library!

Cromwell teens who are off from school have a chance to put in their community service hours at the library this summer. The result for the library will be some fun events. On Friday, July 31, the library will sponsor â€Å"Once in a Blue Moon Day! There will not be fines due on Cromwell Library books or other Cromwell collection items. Instead, There will be a conscience jar and all funds collected that day will be donated to the Blue Star Mothers. The funds will be used to assist our men and women who serve or have served in our military.

At 4 p.m. the same day, the library’s teen crafters will be at the Cromwell Farmer’s Market. Clever handmade crafts will be sold there at our Blue Moon Booth. Again, all proceeds from that event will go to the Blue Star Mothers.

Check for library participation at the Cromwell Town-Wide Tag Sale Aug. 1. Literary items will be on sale at our table in Pierson Park.

On Tuesday, Aug. 18, participate in an acrylic painting night based on the novel Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Join us from 6 - 8 p.m. for a fun evening of painting with guidance from Katie and Ali, our two excellent art instructors. We must limit our painters to a total of 25 Cromwell residents ages 12 and up. Sign up early at the library to save your spot. If you cannot visit the library in person, please call the library at 860-632-3460 to see if there is a spot for you.

Every Friday the library will offer a one day book sale to benefit the Friends of the Library volunteers. Supporting the Friends helps the library offer more programs and other services that aren’t provided for in the library’s budget.

Visit our local travel display in the library foyer for inexpensive travel tips and a list of our library museum pass program funded by the Friends of the Library. Your community library wants to help you save money and enjoy the summer!

Look for other events as we gain support and enjoy our beautiful gardens created by our patrons and members of the community. There will be fine local art displayed throughout August from our July painting night! Don’t miss all of our regular programs. Don’t forget to enjoy all of the free wonderful databases that are available on the library’s website at www.cromwellct.com/library.html .

Summer hours run through Labor Day, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are closed Labor Day, and after Labor Day, Saturday hours resume. We are always available 24 hours a day on our website to access your library account and catalog of materials.
