Cub Scout Food Drive Raises Donations for Veteran Center
NEWINGTON - Cub Scout Pack 347 recently raised over 120 boxes of food and more than $3,700 in cash donations to benefit the Hartford Vet Center in Rocky Hill.

With the generosity of Stop & Shop on Fenn Road, Stop & Shop on Kitts Lane and Best Market, scouts from Pack 347 each worked a two-hour shift over the course of one weekend, soliciting food donations for our nation"s veterans. The result was outstanding as grocery shoppers were extremely generous and more than willing to donate to this worthy cause.

The Hartford Vet Center is one of the busiest centers in the Northeast and provides a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families. The Hartford Vet Center guides Veterans and their families through many of the major adjustments in lifestyle that often occur after a Veteran returns from combat. One of the services provided by the Hartford Vet Center is a food bank. Cub Scout Pack 347 is the major supplier of this important service.

Cub Scout Pack 347 is chartered by the Kiwanis Club of Newington and is a program for boys in grades one through five. For more information, please contact Cubmaster, Eric Rothauser at 860-305-1344 or EHRothauser@gmail.com .
