DURHAM - Artie’s Bar & Grill in Durham offers up a bevy of libations, fresh fare and a wide variety of events, attractions and specials that set it apart.
Bill and Eleanor Anderson opened Artie’s, named in honor of Bill’s father, in September of 2014 on Route 17 in south Durham. The full bar has 12 beers on tap with a menu that puts a creative twist on traditional pub food. Sandwiches, burgers, brats, flatbreads, appetizers and more are made fresh and even the dressings are made in-house.
The popular Artie’s wings are never frozen and Wednesdays the kitchen offers up a new “flavor of the week.” The 10 oz. Cowboy Burger is another customer favorite, as is the “Nutty Monkey,” an unexpectedly delicious combination of peanut butter, bananas, bacon and caramelized onions on a pretzel bun.
Live music is performed every Saturday night in the bar and Sunday days on the patio during the warmer months. The bar draws in some serious dart and pool players, too, and electronic darts allow customers to play against people from all over the world.
Artie’s regularly hosts special events such as paint nights, DJ trivia, “Classic Cruise” days with Doo-Wop music and classic cars and is soon introducing lip sync battles. The bar also plans to host a pig roast this summer and will participate with a float in the Durham Memorial Day Parade this weekend.
Artie’s Bar & Grill, 980 New Haven Rd., Durham, features Monday through Friday happy hours specials, with all-night happy hour on Wednesdays with free pool.
